Soulja Boy is hot garbage to me. but honestly Kanye has a point, at least when it comes to how soulja boy is actually hip-hop. that's real; even Lupe Fiasco said the same exact thing. rap is highly invested in 808 bass beats and dancing. But what snoop said is also true about him, that radio clearly overplays music like SB's so music like that slowly but surely starts to define or redefine hip-hop. Soulja is NOT a lyricist, i think he makes terrible music. but he IS hip-hop.

I don't think kanye is trying to say Soulja Boy is a genius or anything, he was just making a point that people were hating that's all.

Soulja Boy was like 16 when he blew up, and 16 year olds make 16 year old bubblegum music.

@ricpride Oh I agree with you. It was a light sarcasm when I said, "It's what to be expected," but also 1/2 serious, too. Yes, it is ridiculous to wear such "ice" as they call it :P but that's their culture, to show off they riches, yo! :P Even though they are piss poor and in the ghetto, they still do this.
