@aleksred77 Really? It doesnt sound anything like the Horst Wessel Lied and no coincidence at all...

The music of this song reminds greatly of the infamous Nazi marching anthem called Horst Wessel Lied, which was the most popular tune in the Third Reich and is still a great hit with the Nazis today.Weird coincidence or is there a connection here?

Missing verse "And then into a humble shack I wander, My own sweet home & tenderly behold. The folks around the turf gathered, On bended knees, their rosary is told."

This song was a favourite of my dear departed old golfing partner Tom who could sing it when he got a halfone or two into him, and sing it as well as anybody... happy memories... and God rest his soul he and his good wife May... many a good night I shared with them both... sadly missed.

Great old song. I was not aware that Bing Crosby did a cover of this until I read about it in one of the comments. Definitely worthwhile to check that version out.
Can we please not enjoy this old and wonderful song and leave out politics........
