Just thought I'd make this video to show some impressive C64 stuff, I mainly wanted to show some of the bigger bosses made up of loads of sprites but some of the things in here are also created using tiles, the games in the video are

Creatures 2
Turrican II
Scorpius
Catalypse
Turrican
R-Type
Armalyte
Enforcer - Fullmetal Megablaster
Salamander
Rubicon
Phobia
Rodland

  • good video, great technical demonstration.

Poor choice of music - can you put some C64 music on there to match that technical achievement ?

  • Yeah, I actually kinda' made this video as a comeback to link to on forum's whenever someone said the C64 was bad with sprites, I guess as a video on Youtube it seems a bit random LOL

  • This is the best c64 video here. :)

What game is that with the large monster coming from the ground?

  • I've just wrote a list of the games, the one you was asking about was Catalypse.

  • The C64 can do some pretty cool stuff with the right programming behind it.

  • I would've loved the Spectrum or Amstrad try shit like that!

  • I had a c64 as a kid and haven't played any of these cool games beside turrican.

    I feel sad now.

  • cool vid ;)

  • That is actually impressive stuff

  • @walter0bz

Compare the C64 with the PC-Engine, and you'll see how ridiculous this statement is.

  • La C64 fué una maquina espectacular, lo mejor llegó cuando apareció la multicarga con la disquetera, y cada parte usaba los 64k disponible. Saludos.

Awesome machine...I had one and made me very happy :) the best of C64 came when multiload appeared and each part used all the 64k available.

  • the name of the first game? please

  • c64 was a better use of 8bit than the amiga was of 16bit

(when judged as a Games machine, of course the amiga was much more versatile than sprites/tiles)

  • indeed the c64 has some sprite power!!

  • impressive stuff for an 8 bit computer. Commodore always did pack some impressive stuff in their machines. Too bad the C64/128, Amiga, and commodore are long gone.
