A montage about Kristen Maloney (UCLA) and Courtney Kupets (UGA) and the amazing comebacks from devastating injuries that they made during their NCAA careers. They came back from potentially career-ending injuries to be better than they had looked in their entire gymnastics careers. Both gymnasts performed very difficult skills and looked like they could still compete in elite gymnastics. Kristen Maloney contracted a very serious bacterial infection in her tibia during surgery to repair her chronic stress fracture. The bacteria ate 80% of the bone in her leg and doctors told her she may never walk again and would never do gymnastics again. She proved everyone wrong by coming back in 2004 and 2005 looking better than ever. She won many titles in 2005 and vaulted a double twisting yurchenko and tumbled a full-twisting double layout at the 2005 NCAA Gymnastics Championships with a sprained ankle. Courtney Kupets tore her achilles tendon in March 2008 and came back stronger than ever winning almost every title at the 2009 NCAA Gymnastics Championships and scoring several perfect 10s throughout the season. Both gymnasts also made amazing injury comebacks to compete at the Olympics. These gymnasts are unbelievable. I chose the song Running Up That Hill by Placebo to represent the uphill battle that these gymnasts faced to get to where they were in this video.
