*****************************
So this is the end of the story
Everything we had, everything we did
Is buried in dust
And this dust is all that's left of us

But only a few ever worried
Though the signs were clear, they had no idea
You just get used to living in fear
Or give up
When you can't even picture your future

We walk the plank with our eyes wide open...

Some people offered up answers
We made out like we heard, but they were only words
They didn't add up
To a change in the way we were living

And the saddest thing-
Is all of it could have been avoided
But it was like to stop consuming is to stop being human
And why would I make a change if you won't
We're all in the same boat, staying afloat
For the moment

And we walk the plank with our eyes wide open, we..
Walk the plank with our eyes wide open

With our eyes wide open we...
Walk the plank, we walk the plank

And that was the end of the story

  • @StitchInFace that's because you don't like the abstract and are too ignorant to realize the deep message of this song.

  • @Chr0nikGaming

One interpretation: Those are futurehumans moving backwards in time on lifeboats on a destroyed Earth, taking samples and finding only dust and bones, moving through phantoms of a nuclear war, human society, and further back to before civilization. They reach an era with water and reverse bail it into their boats, repairing their cracked faces. Then, through an ice age, they reach a young volcanic earth and what could be alien spacecraft - hope that helps

  • thumbs up if you knew this before somebody that I used to know!!

  • This ays to me that we all know what bad and evil things we are doing and what the consequences are yet we keep walking the path to destruction.

  • This is so weird. I love it!!

  • @smiley1437a i think the 'alien spacecraft' is actually the meteor that wiped out the dinosaurs.

  • looks like war of the worlds.

  • wow. I have never heard a song say literally what I was living. Many have come close, but not exactly. This meant a lot to me.

  • Genre's are often defined by the production...this is def. "Pop," but what is wrong with that..I don't think kids will be getting beat up on the playground for liking Gotye.

  • @ArvelDreth As much as i like this song it is as shallow as a puddle, and about as abstract. its pop music for fucks sake. Its easy not complex.

  • Gotye's music is inspirational

  • @MrsCheesieCakes OH 4 for you glen coco you go glen coco! andnoneforgrethenweiners BYE!
