Nothing is sacred when it comes to comedy, nor should anything be sacred. From what I heard, this was at an "open mic" which is where comedians (especially established comedians like Tosh) try out new material and, for the most part, wing it. Not every joke is gonna be a winner, and by heckling, you mess up the comedian's momentum. Tosh came back with something that wasn't funny, but that's all it should be made out to be: a joke that bombed! The BS he got for it is unmerited.
