This video depicts Monet, a Cane Corso Mastiff rescued from a high-kill gassing pound in Warren, OH. On her journey to her new foster home in Corunna, ON, her transporter met, and picked up an English Mastiff named Lacey (from Columbia City, IN) who joined her on her journey to a new life. The two were fostered together, with three small children, and their two resident dogs, a rescued German Shepherd and a rescued Doberman. Not every dog gets a happy ending. Help Friendly Giants Dog Rescue create more happy endings like theirs.

Friendly Giants Dog Rescue is a non-profit group based out of Ottawa, ON and Sarnia, ON. We rescue primarily *but not limited to* large and giant breed dogs across North America, and place them in loving foster homes until they are adopted.
The majority of these dogs come from high-kill gassing pounds.
Some come from heartsticking shelters, which we'll tackle in another video.
Spaying and neutering is the first big step to curbing the pet overpopulation, dogs are indiscriminately breeding by accident from careless owners, and for profit, by breeders and puppy mills. It needs to stop.
In the meantime, the best we can do to help is to foster. Get these dogs out of shelters and into families. Time is of the essence, time they do not have. Many of these shelters do not adopt to the public, they are 100% kill facilities.
Others offer 24hrs for an owner surrendered dog to find a home, 72hrs for a stray. Some will have more time if space allows. Others will have less.
Do not hold the shelters or their staff responsible. They didn't create this problem. They feel as helpless as we do. But it's time to act, step up to the plate, show man's best friend that man can be their best friend also. Take home a rescue dog, foster them until they find a new home. Give them a chance at life that would otherwise be lost.
We need foster homes in the SARNIA ONTARIO and OTTAWA ONTARIO region, but there are many other rescues and shelters in your own backyard, that you could help, if you just took the time to offer it.

  • I didnt know that gas deaths were still done. I thought all deaths were done by shot. I now wonder about the humane society here in Ottawa. Its no kill but how do the sick or not adoptable die? Theres another side however unfair. COST. They often cant give every anything beyond food and vet care. Even a gas death is better than life as a stray or being hit and abused.

  • Thank you for posting this video. I had no idea about gas chambers. If your going to get a pure bred they have plenty of rescues for each breed. even the rare ones. I'm starting to volunteer for TAILS humane society

  • I wish more people would get your message. I have three rescues myself.
