Recording program used: Camstudio
Partitioning program used: MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition
Operating system: Windows 7
Visit www.neopeek.com for neopeek Android builds (for supported HTC phones)
If you have any comments, concerns, or if I did not do this correctly, please ask or visit www.neopeek.com! I am also on there as a mod!

Camstudio and MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition is freeware and is available free of charge.

Format SD card into Fat32(however big, as long as you have ext2 and liuxswap), Ext2 (512 minimum..) and linuxswap (64mb).

This also works on native android devices (such as HTC G1), for partitioning SD Card for Apps2SD or Apps2ext (a2sd). I would recommend, however, that you format ext partition to ext3 for stability because ext2 is more prone to errors but every other step is the same. Your linuxswap may need to be bigger/smaller depending on the requirements of the rom you flash.

  • Hi I know i don't need to partition if im booting from sd dir...but will partitioning increase speed or help speed

  • @brittanyluvstobi If you are booting from sd dir (fat32), you will not need to partition as that would not do anything.

  • I would like to format my SD to ext3, because I want to create symbolic links (the fat32 doesn't support it) on some folders. Any 1 knows if it is ok with Android (since it uses a linux kernel...I guess there's no prob, but I'm not sure).

  • @asphixmx Android only detects fat32 for the first partition (the partition that you store files, music, videos). You cannot change that to ext3. If symbolic links don't work for you (ln -s or ln), then try to use the mount to "symlink" directories (google on usage, usage on linux is slightly different than android, use mount -o bind)

  • My pc shows the removable disk "Android" with only 1 gb space in it. when i locate it using minitool, it shows 3 partitions. Fat32, ext2 and about 6 GB unallocated. What about the unallocated space ?? How can I use it ?

  • @harshdave If you have a custom recovery installed, such as CWM or AMON_RA, you can just use that to partition your sdcard much easier.. All data will be deleted so back it up first, and then partition your sdcard in recovery.

  • @CnChenn Thanks for your reply.

  • @fuxuan97 Buy a bigger sdcard :)

  • @Excluded20 It may be that the kernel does not support it. I am not sure since I don't own a milestone myself, but check with your developer if the kernel has ext2.ko.

  • can anyone tell me where i can find the ext part of the sd card in a manager app or on the phone to delete some stuff please..if thats even possible...any help appreciated
