WHEC-TV (Channel 10) reports on the inaugural recipient of the X-Factor Filmmakers Award presented to Rochester Institute of Technology film and animation student Lindsay Berkebile at a Rochester High Falls International Film Festival event. The award fund was created by Lauren Tracy, a fourth-year film and animation student at RIT, who aspires to make great films and help other women advance in the industry.
Anchor: A local college student won the first of its kind award at the High Falls Film Fest, and we think that is positively Rochester. Lindsay Berkebile, a 3rd year student at RIT, won the inaugural X-Factor Filmmakers Award. The award was created to help out young women trying to make their mark in the film industry by giving them some financial help. Berkebile will now receive $1800, which she'll use to make her senior thesis film. She says she hopes to see more women involved in the production side of the industry.
Lindsay Berkebile: I just feel like its really important that women really get out there and be like, hey we're making films and we're pretty great too!
Anchor: And if you're interested in checking out the international film festival, it runs until the 18th.
Woa, Congrats Lindsay!! :)
