Metal Head is one of the only two games I really like for the Sega 32X (the other being Stellar Assault).

What a fine game. Fast pumping metal music, giant robots, and... uh... fast pumping metal music! My favourite feature is the ability to change the tempo of the music for better headbanging sessions.

Seriously. This game rules. Very simple, primitive even, and with flaws, but with the right options on it's very enjoyable. I've been wanting to do a playthrough video of this for years now.

Played by Yart in Kega Fusion, with a Three Button controller setup.

  • The Girl has a Sexy voice =P

  • @marsling12: It's the first thing I'd like to hear in the morning for sure.

  • Strange, I watched this on Classic Game Room channel and the characters are all lifelike, whilst on this video the characters are anime drawn.

    What's the different versions?

  • @Terramax: They all have anime faces. You have to unlock them.

  • When i play this the face at the missions briefings is a man, not an anime woman?

I like this, even though it is one of the most hated 32x games.

  • @squirm13: I entered a cheat to turn off all the faces and to replace them with anime girls.

Hold A+B+C+Start when you turn on the system and hold it until the title screen says Press Start. You can now select Anime faces in the options.

I don't know why it's so hated. It's a very fun game once you learn how to pilot the mech properly. The fun is learning how to be as quick and efficient in your movements as possible.

I love Metal Head and constantly wish for a sequel.

  • @Tamanozke that was ironic meant.....

  • @Tamanozke more like that typewriter sound, lol. it was pretty loud too.

  • @happysister02: lol "blip"?

  • @muijsch: Yea the sound effects are too loud. Though I find they're drowned out more in video than actual gameplay. I was able to hear the music easier while playing it. :/ Fortunately the game has a sound test. But I agree. Thunder Force IV > Almost Everything.

The controls are pretty bad in this game. I find the game easier with the three button pad. The main problem people had with the controls was that you move slowly. Just double tap every direction.

N64 is where the 3D started good.
