The rack has safety bars. One thing I think makes this lift super impressive is that Mike has to lift the bar out of the rack himself (no lift off). I would think that must pull his shoulders a bit out of position, very impressive to do it with that weight!

I know he's a good deal stronger than me, but I just think bench shirts are retarded. All this gear is ruining powerlifting. It makes it impossible for the average guy to stay interested in the sport because it's so different from what he does in the gym every week. Just my opinion.
