Thank you for showing that just about all MA moves are BS. In doing things fast they must be kept simple. If a person gives no tel' and quickly goes right to the face area, odds are most won't be able to stop it in time. Screw punches and "strikes", get those fingers tearing into the eyes or throat and drive their head backwards as you do it. They'll likely go off balance too. SPEED is what you need. Attack is so often the best defense. Great video!

@mattkovsky I thank you for your reply,i do think you may have missed the point i was trying to raise My reaction to a wrist grab would be to use a strike,usually a knee, i think that combatives is the way foward in self defence.i agree that a lot of Martial Arts training doesn't work in a modern western society.My point was that some good can be gained from understanding Martial principles that's it.Keep the vids coming,they're brill.I like what you're trying to educate to people

@coolwolfkid good point.
personally, in my experience a lot of guys (when they are intending to do something like this) make sure that they have their goin in some way protected as that tends to be the first thing a girl goes for.

@roguerider123 True but the shot to the eyes and throat tends to open up the groin and vice verse.

everyone has made great points on the self defense , but remember any move is better than none. plus one small move leads to a much bigger and effective one. what i didn't see and would have like to seen because it's an effect break to a wrist hold, was the girl rotating her hand to his thumb to scape!!! don't care how big or strong the attacker may be the thumb is not going to hold.

@vanessavilca Thanks for your post but we have found from actual experience that the average woman cannot break a strong man's grip using just leverage. Don't forget, in real life, no one is going to just stand there and "let" you apply your release technique--the attacker adjusts his alignment and can mobilize his entire trunk structure to reinforce his grip. Sorry, it's a myth. Something similar is shown in this vid.

I like the point that you are addressing the issue of what happens in reality,however it may be a little wrong to think that wrist escapes don't work they just need the right kuzushi.The eight wrist releases of Aikido if practiced correctly can be an excellent tool.Everything needs to be drilled to be effective,even what you're showing.The eight Aikido releases Are a good bridge to deal with other attacks.Saying all this a good kick to the balls pre empted strikes rock :D

@earlbailey1 Defenses need to be simple to work when you're about to be raped or killed. If all you ever do is practice hitting softballs with a whiffle ball bat, you'll never be able to hit a major league fastball in the big leagues. Similarly, if you're about to die, it's faster and simpler to rip the attacker's eyes out or crack his trachea than worry about perfect leverage and execution of a wrist release, which is why simple defenses such as shown here were taught to U.S. troops in WWII.
