As much as I love David Bowie and this song, he just seems so painfully out of place on this show. He spent so many years pushing himself in the avant garde, gender-bending, art-rock spectrum, that when he finally tries to jump into soul, he just looks awkward. Most of us black folks (not all) don't get into that bizarre, artsy-fartsy stuff. It's like Andy Warhol or Klaus Nomi trying to hang out with James Brown. I'm still glad he tried R&B and I still like his Young Americans album.
