  • We have a 2 month Northern MI course that we run here for the Militias units in MI. Camp Stasa is one of the primary course sites. We cycle 83 people through the course every 4 weeks.

    Considering the weight of two wool blankets. They are roughly 3/16" thick but are very warm. Just remember that a sleeping bag won't keep you warm when it becomes wet. Wool blankets will.

    The golden rule is...two is one, one is none. That being said, a wool blanket is somewhat heavy and will take up a good amount of room in your pack. If you have a dedicated shelter system (like Dave used to carry back in the day) adding a second wool blanket will make it larger in diameter and add more weight. One blanket is enough to keep you from dying in the right conditions but two would allow you to layer up or down. You may be better off with a good quality sleeping bag when

  • Great series Dave. I know you get this alot, but you have suggested italian wool blankets. For sleeping in cold weather would 1 be enough, or would 2 be better. Any idea about how thick they are?
