same thing happened with me
i remember once i just got so fed up with the busy work. My english teacher (loser) gave us a lame worksheet, and I had a bad cold, so I blew my nose on the paper.
Yeah, I got hammered for that one.

I was a gifted student who got screwed over by the public schools. I used to regularly get taken to principals offices and get bitched out for like an hour at a time. I was berated and insulted by teachers and administrators about how it was "wrong" for me to be smarter than the other students and the teachers. I was told I wasn't "allowed" to know more than other people and wasn't "allowed" to learn faster than other people. My IQ score on the WAIS is 169. My teachers hated me for it.

My wife and I are blessed with two gifted children. We are fortunate to live in a city that has an Amazing (private) gifted program. Tulsa Univ. has a program on the campus that goes from pre-K to 8th grade. We are just starting the third year in the program and would be lost without TU. Thank you Dr. Hollingsworth. My son was just accepted as a "young scholar" at the Davidson institute in Reno. They offer fantastic support. The Davidsons book Genius Denied is a MUST READ.
