ABOUT - Keep The Music Playing:
Keep the Music Playing is a 1991 album by Shirley Bassey. The album was recorded in the UK at the Westgreen Studios and in the Netherlands at Wisseloord Studios, Hilversum. The album is a mixture of contemporary pop ballads, such as "I Want to Know What Love Is" from Foreigner, the Jennifer Rush power ballad "The Power Of Love", and the more gentle "Still" from Lionel Richie, combined with standards from the field of jazz and pop, such as "He Was Beautiful", the sweet jazz ballad from Cleo Laine. Several of the songs are sung with a grand, operatic pop style, which may have roots in her 1984 album I Am What I Am, which she recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra, and the fact that in the latter mid-1980s she started working with a vocal coach, a former opera singer. Bassey returned to the Beatles with "Yesterday", as she had previously covered "Something" and "Fool on the Hill" successfully in the 1970s, and had performed "Hey Jude" frequently live. The album was a commercial success and entered the UK album charts in May 1991, peaking at number 25.[1] The original release was on vinyl, cassette and CD, the CD was issued by Dino Records in the UK and ZYX Records in Germany. FreeStyle Records is now defunct but this album has been re-issued on CD many times on various labels. This was the last Shirley Bassey album to be issued on a vinyl LP format.

LYRICS - The Power Of Love:
The whispers in the morning
Of lovers sleeping tight
Are rolling by like thunder now
As I look in your eyes
I hold on to your body
And feel each move you make
Your voice is warm and tender
A love that I could not forsake
But I'm your lady
And you are my man
Whenever you reach for me
I'll do all that I can
Even though there may be times
It seems I'm far away
But never wonder where I am
'Cause I am always by your side
But I'm your lady
And you are my man
Whenever you reach for me
I'll do all that I can
We're heading for something
Somewhere I've never been
Sometimes I am frightened
But I'm ready to learn
About the power of love
The sound of your heart beating
Made it clear suddenly
The feeling that I can't go on
Is light years away
But I'm your lady
And you are my man
Whenever you reach for me
I'll do all that I can
We're heading for something
Somewhere I've never been
Sometimes I am frightened
But I'm ready to learn
About the power of love
The power of love
The power of love
The power of love
LYRICS - Yesterday:
Yesterday
All my troubles seemed so far away
Now it looks as though they're here to stay
Oh, I believe in yesterday
Suddenly I'm not half the girl I used to be
There's a shadow hanging over me
Oh, yesterday came suddenly
Why he had to go I don't know he wouldn't say
I said something wrong Now I long for yesterday
Yesterday
Love was such an easy game to play
Now I need a place to hide away
Oh, I believe in yesterday
Why he had to go I don't know he wouldn't say
I said something wrong Now I long for yesterday
Yesterday Love was such an easy game to play
Now I need a place to hide away
Oh, I believe in yesterday
Oh, I believe in yesterday

5 hours ago @Thorneycroft1937 - Yes - I Was Born to Sing The Blues, and I believe this was Shirley's first full LP, which came out around 1957. When I replace this vid I will attempt to move the comments over....

Indeed a great song for a great clip, this seems to be late 50s so this was a fabulous new DSB experience!!! The earliest Shirley i have seen (alongside the Burn My Candle clips)...any idea what song she sings in this clip?

@Thorneycroft1937 -Thks Jonas, but I will be replacing this one. The music has static to it, and things like this bother me. The Clip at 7:00 - I have had this short clip for a while - don't know where it came from, and I have been looking for the right venue to put it out for everyone. It's not a complete song, but I would venture to guess that it was taken in the 50's. Yesterday seemed like the right song for it.
