Tree climber, Jim Spickler climbs the tree where the Santa Cruz eaglet is. The eaglet is not happy with the intrusion and 'branches' for the first time. Jim is patient and slowly enters the nest.
You can read about the struggle to reintroduce America's symbol, the Bald Eagle, to the Channel Islands as well as watch this miracle of nature via live eagle-cam by going to http://www.iws.org and clicking first on 'interactive' and then choosing one of the 3 nests to view.... 2 are on Catalina Island and 1 on Santa Cruz Island or go to: http://z7.invisionfree.com/CHIL_EagleCAM/index.php?act=idx
In some ways, this type of climbing seems potentially more hazardous than that for the redwood research.
On another tangent of this, I just posted a long essay online about research climbing. More redwood related, but a bit of overlap.

My heart is still racing. I thought the eaglet was gonna jump/fledge off the nest a couple times.
