Final Predictions, Best Actor Predictions 2012.mov

I held out as long as I could - wanting MICHAEL SHANNON to get some last minute tail-wind-buzz and make it into the final five, but it's just not going to happen. If HE does I will scream outright with joy and then punch myself in the stomach for losing hope. He gives the best performance of the year and is THE ACTOR breaking new ground. His soulful hunger search for the truth in TAKE SHELTER is beyond acting. I think that last minute tail-wind-buzz went to Gary Oldman and there was even some late love for Leo. But in the end I think they are going to give Gary Oldman his first nomination this year for TINKER TAILOR. I think BRAD PITT could come into to win the whole thing, but I'm holding ground and say that it's going to be George Clooney at the end of the evening. The film won't take home many other awards, maybe screenplay - but this is the way to recognize the film as a whole and his solid work. Him and Brad both had great years, but George had a couple bigger, better, not better but more showier moments in THE DESCENDANTS. Oscar voters love a good man-cry. I love Leo, but J. EDGAR was hard to stomach. If he makes it in, I'm going to lay a big deuce outside in protest.
