I took my previous homemade computer rack and heavily modified it to what you see here.

Additions:

Added sides to lower and upper racks.

Improved airflow by cutting holes for case fans, allowing a single intake and exhaust for CPU and an intake and exhaust for lower rack to improve power supply and hard drive temperatures.

Added tooless removable hard drive bay for more efficient placement and cooling of hard drives, also added support for it so that it does not crush under weight of multiple hard drives.

Added easy to access tooless side door to the case, it is sealed in place by a form of latch wedged into a cutout of the exact size, tape acts as a hinge. Easy to open and seals shut tightly.

Improved Cable management by cutting rectangular holes near the motherboard, all cables go through these rather than over the sides.

Added front panel USB2.0 ports

Fun Fact: Cardboard burns at 450C, plastic melts at 120C. None of the system components go beyond 60C, and system shuts down around 80C, therefore there is no worry about cardboard catching on fire, in fact it stays really cold.

Note: V3 is in design at the moment, so far a third level has been added, the top level has been modified so that it is even (cutting the excess on top), and the system is undergoing overclock tests.

Currently 3.7GHz at 1.42V with 58C load

  • @Metroid225 Quick science lesson: cardboard is more resistant than plastic, If your computer is running at 258C, hot enough to ignite the cheapest cardboard, you have bigger issues.
