I hate this song in Portuguese, but, in German, everything fits! Even in English it's, musically , poor.

Jesus...!!!! So proud of this ! Brazil, Brazil..

[better late than never. =) ] I think you misunderstood JohnMichaels20's question a little bit. The question was, if the choire sings in German although it's not their native language - which it isn't. So the Portuguese singers in this video SING in German - a language completely different from their own - but they DO NOT necessarily speak/understand German. :)

I would like explain that people singing are native speakers singing in germain. Ys, in german, brasilians can sing in german too! And this's antherm to glorify to the god and humanity, not Europe.

Oh, and one last thing. The version used as the anthem of the European Nations is non lyrical.
And while i'm at it. From European to American English? Seriously? You make me remember that lady on "smarter than a fifth grader" who thought Europe was a country.

It's the anthem of the European Union. Not Europe in itself.
Also, it's not a song to glorify Europe of the European Union flag. It's what the title says "Ode to Joy". And the parts you've connected to the "president" of the EU is one based in religion and was made to glorify God. Not to forget that the song was written by the end of the 18'th century. EU was formed 150 years later. So no, it was not dedicated to europe, but to humanity. And you got the translation wrong.

@pacoenfadonha It is a German. It is the European National Anthem. It is sung in European. It is a song dedicated to the glory of the European Flag and the Europrean President. It says (translation from European to American English).
"Workship him you millions. Where will you find him? Seek him in the firmament. There! Above the Canopy of Stars." He is the European Presdent. You are the Europeans. The Canopy of Stars is the European Flag.

@JohnMichaels20 Nope it's German trust me. I can understand quite a bit of German and that is German.

This should be the world's national anthem...
