Breaking it in. Started at 315, no belt just to start stretching the shirt. Letting the shirt ride up your chest will make descent easier. Then 365.

Put on the belt at 405, brought in a spotter, and bounced the weight around at the bottom. Then 455...

Finally a glory shot at 495 pounds (225 kilos). Got a BS "It's (NOT) all you" spot, but, still, it went down and up. Hopefully this will make it easier next Tuesday when I start benching again for real.

This is my third Katana. One first generation, two custom fit Super Katanas. They are a lot of bench shirt. I would not recommend them for a first bench shirt. But if you have been at it a while and have used other bench shirts and are looking to bring it up to the next level, this is it. For a first shirt, or for someone who doesn't want as much shirt, either go with a Titan Fury (most men, or those who don't arch) or F6 (more women, or people with a pronounced arch).

I got the shirt from PLGearOnline.com. This is where I get almost all my powerlifting gear. Owner Priscilla Ribic, International Powerlifting Federation Hall of Famer, will ship in stock stuff same day usually. Her website says whether stuff is in stock. This custom shirt, purchased right after Thanksgiving, took the 8 weeks I expected it to. This is par for the course for custom powerlifting gear.

I am not sponsored by anyone, and paid full retail for this shirt.

For comparison, my competition PR's are 352 pounds (160 kilos) raw, and 474 pounds (215 kilos) with a single ply shirt.

  • @rhsalaskaI am actually a member of USPA and you can do as some call it "suicide grip". My Coach is Alan Aerts also the chairman/judge he has a few videos on youtube breaking the world record.

I agree with having the wrist wrap higher.

  • @Evolmtr Sounds like you are in good hands! Enjoy your F6!

  • Thanks for the input. I hope to get a lot out of my F6! I plan to do board training with my coach once I get it.

  • @Evolmtr From the looks of your facility you should do just fine! If you ever do USA Powerlifting competitions, you will need to use a "thumb around" grip on the bar (which I recommend as safer anyway...). If you have wrist pain, try starting your wrist wraps higher onto the bottom of your hand and wrap them very tight.

  • Nice work. How is the break in process working for you? Is it getting easier to get the bar to the chest now? I just ordered a single ply F6. What is your body weight and what do you bench RAW?

  • @Evolmtr Break-in has been excellent, though I had to have some stitching reinforced where the original stitching let go. See my channel page for my training vlog. Single ply F6 is an excellent shirt. Bodyweight in mid-upper 240's. Best competition raw bench (with pause) is 352. Best touch-n-go is 365 but I don't work up to heavy singles much raw. When you get it, use a power rack with the pins set to save your face!!!!!!!!! (Bar can touch chest, but not face)

  • man you gotta pull that weight down! use that extra spring off the bottom to push that weight up. i paused 495 for 2 in a junk inzer blast shirt. super katana to inzer blast is like smart car to semi truck. night a day. you can get that weight for sure.

  • Now that you mention it, there may have been some Christmas shopping season special on shipping or maybe some amount off. But, yes, this stuff is expensive, and it's not like you can go up to Sports Authority and try it on before you buy it! But I think this one's going to work well.

  • the PAIN of spending money on gear... I always try to find sales to get them
