Obviously one of my all time favorite opera's is Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor, so it should be no suprise that I wanted to revisit this opera for this contest. I tried to use differnt selections where I could to add a little varitey from the last Lucia Contest. I hope everyone enjoys. Again a score of 1-5 for singing/characterization:
Lucia Aliberti - 1991
Joan Sutherland - 1987
Anna Moffo - 1959
Desiree Rancatore - 2006
Patricia Wise - 1981
Edita Gruberova - 1995
Luciana Serra - 1986
Anna Netrebko - 2000
Mme. Richardson - 2000
Ruth Ann Swenson - 1989
Ruth Welting - 1985
Mariella Devia - 1994
June Anderson - 1983
Patrizia Ciofi - 2006
Dimitra Theodossiou - 1999
I see a lot of people have rated Serra with average scores. I'd say better than Netrebko any day :P

I used to like Serra's singing, based on some fine recordings. But hearing her on stage, I am usually disappointed, and often for different reasons. Here I agree with sevoflurane: the singing sounds forced with regard to technique and expression. I'd rather the singer omit the trills than sing them so awkwardly. The tone is none too pleasing either. 2/2
