I think this looks and plays very well considering the system that it's on. Great review dommie :)

Nintendo used the "Brutus" character design for the game and cabinet art. More fat than muscular.

this song got stuck in my head for years and i started playing this song on guitar and elaborated a bit lol i love this game

the nes version had better graphics tho but its still the same game and brutus was his first name but was renamed later as bluto at the end of 80's

Night of the living drunks.. He's got a beer bottle!

I remember being pissed because there was no punching bag to make a barrel fall on Bluto. So pissed that i wrote a letter to Parker Brothers telling them that they dissapointed me with that feature! True story - GB

Bezerk was probably the best arcade port on the VCS / 2600. Phoenix is up there as well. I remember sending my mom to get me Popeye for the 2600 when it came out. I loved the arcade version and had a VCS and a PCjr (might not have had the PCjr at that time) but anyway didn't have a Coleco, 5200, or 400/800, so I had to play Popeye on the VCS - I had no complaints. I have it today for the Coleco, 5200, XEGS, & NES.
??? the graphic are hawrribble!!! ( i know how its realy spelled) (horribble)

Here's a challenge: create a video game that is less than 4k in size and make sprites that resemble anything other than a block. Those were the limitations of the Atari 2600. Popeye turned out pretty well under those conditions I think.
