Hibernian FC Relegated versus Dundee United (2nd May 1998)

Edinburgh Hibernian finally succumbed to the inevitable relegation on the 2nd May 1998. A season which initially promised so much finally delivered the ultimate failure.

Jim Duffy's disastrous tenure had come to an end a few months earlier. Alex McLeish took over and almost saved Hibs but unfortunately they just ran out of games.

Hibs would bounce back to the SPL after one season in the first division and have remained there since.
