@Unique9773 Seldom would you find someone who struggled thru the 60s and 70s in this country and came out on the other side, for example MLK, Malcolm X, Huey Newton, Stokely Carmichael etc etc etc. To live in a struggle one can not isolate himself from the emotional dynamics of that struggle, eventually it takes its toll. Some resort to self medication, while others throw themselves into harms way. The voice of the struggle from one heart can move a nation...

His message is as true today as it was in 1972!!! World, listen and learn from a modern prophet :)

@carioca56 Dear heart, this shot IS in Washington DC, not Central Park's Reservoir in NYC. He also did a shot at Howard University's College campus. I wish I had known he was here at this time, I would have loved to have seen him in action LIVE! He spoke so much truth, trying to get the message out to those who would listen! Rest in Peace Mr Gil Scott Heron

@sigmanick73 check this out which was released in 1981...do you think anything has changed
"As Wall Street goes, so goes the nation. And here's a look at the closing numbers – racism's up, human rights are down, peace is shaky, war items are hot - the House claims all ties. Jobs are down, money is scarce – and common sense is at an all-time low with heavy trading."

Kind of a juxtaposition to see Gil walking around Central Park Reservoir in NYC singing about Washington D.C.
Still, I loved the Man. Always will, too.
