Alike previous Orochi games, weapon attributes along with weapon attack power/familiarity are still excessively overpowering, resulting in the game being overly easy and not entertaining if you utilize certain combinations + levels of attributes and/or high weapon attack power/familiarity.

This video presents gameplay where buffed up officers with full 2x health in a max star chaos stage dies in one or two charges or one musou from one character due to overpowered weapons (as if they don't already die quickly enough regularly), something which I try to avoid in my gameplays. For this reason, I'm usually attempting to purposely not utilize all the damage amplifying attributes and life scaling elements + maxing their levels in my weapons, or leveling my weapons' familiarity to max. This is because too much of it simply makes the game overly easy like stated. It also doesn't help that getting attributes are much easier than previous Orochi games. However, maximized weapons are still useful for farming stats, weapons, and bonds.

In terms of harder difficulties, this game seems to set and balance the difficulty via damage output. Hence, both you and your enemies' damage output is extremely high (considering you are utilizing good weapons). It is similar to the first Warriors Orochi. Personally, I don't like this concept at all. The only challenge you receive is cheapness from the enemies (usually backstabbig peons), and as the player it's just not entertaining nor challenging mowing down even the toughest opponent in seconds.

It would be nice if KOEI actually increased the enemy's artificial intelligence for harder difficulties for once, instead of just raising the damage output of either side as they always do. I realize the Warriors Orochi series has always been like this, but it'll be nice to have the difficulty similar to say, Samurai Warriors 3/XL, where even the best weapons and max leveled characters felt underpowered.

  • Slow offense is boring as hell though. DW3 had the perfect balance of damage from AI, agressiveness of AI, and damage done to opponents. DW7XL was pretty good, only a few characters with maximized weapons can kill with 1 musou attack.
