@CoryChiarelli Actually, most people can learn to sing like this by utilizing a technique called speech level singing.

phil is my uncle. indeed, he did take lessons before meeting seth, and learned much from them. however, he has commented on numerous occasions that seth has been able to get his voice to do some great things. his voice has gotten drastically stronger over the last few years that he has been working w/ seth and he is able to do things now that he could not before. lastly, as devoicetraining commented phil gives seth much credit. they are not just student and teacher, they are also friends.
