http://hothardware.com - WHDI or Wireless High Definition Digital Interface allows for connection of any HDMI compatible device wirelessly to any HDMI-enabled display at resolutions up to 1080p. We test out two kits and show you how the tech works and its performance. In a word - impressive. HotHardware.com

  • Distance that they break down at?

  • @matthallett - Roughly 30ft but that's through walls etc too.

  • Great review, do u think this type of wireless tech is gonna be useful? I mean, the reciver looks kinda big, not to mention u have an extra powerbrick, anyway, nice video, thanks for sharing this info, I had no idea the WHDMI even exist.

  • @Ryosanc Well, you only need that extra brick at the receiver end, at your home theater receiver lets say. The transmitter on the laptop site runs off USB power when plugged into notebook.

I think it's going to be very big tech eventually but will likely get more integrated into notebook platforms coming to market in the future (so you won't need the external transmitter box, it'll just be built in). For now, it "just works" and works pretty darn well I might add. Pretty cool!

  • woah that bg drumloop music is the most annyoing thing i've heard in a while

  • @sonofkikkoman sorry to annoy... that was definitely not the intent of our producer and the levels on it are pretty low. Oh well... we tried.

  • how much are we talking here for one of these? does it work with xp?

  • HI Can you tell me something: I have a ps3 and a optoma hd 3d projector. I want to send the blu ray films ( 3d or not ) from my ps3 to the projector by wi fi, will this product handle it if not do you know one that will.

  • Ip Man

  • @azis3000 my dad just got one of those. its pretty sick . doesnt loose any quality going from his bedroom to the living room (thru walls).

  • This is great concept. However, I have a 1080p projector system. I would love not having to run wires from my PS3 (on the floor) to the projector (mounted to the ceiling). But the extra power wire i would have to run for the receiver would defeat the whole purpose... Good, but flawed idea. Anyway to get around that?

  • is USB 3.0 gonna increase the range to over 30ft?

  • nice review thanx man! btw i didnt have time to watch whole vid at work.. how much does this kit cost ( the stuff i would need to broadcast whats on my desktop pc to my hd tv ) :) thanx again

  • do they both send out sound aswell or do you have to use your laptop speakers?

  • Top-notch tutorial. Didn't notice the drumloop but did notice the excessive violence.
