Many deaf people enjoy music. They often say they can feel the music through vibrations, which has been scientifically proven. In fact, Marlee Matlin herself says in her memoir ("I'll Scream Later") that she loves music, particularly Billy Joel.

You know, if she couldn't walk, why would he not want to watch the Olympics in front of her. If she were colorblind, would he avoid the color green? I LOVE this film, but his character is off in his guilt. I can't sing, but if my husband wanted to, I'd let him watch "American Idol."

@jfulbright I don't think so...I know and love to death a deaf man, and it hurts that he will never know the music, of any kind :(

I wish their were more movies about the real struggle of one person,not about the spoiled girls and boys that only worry about getting laid,or drunk or just simply leave off their parents.I live near an institute for the hearing imparied and blind and their day to day life is not a soap opera or the next "Hollywood" glamour.Thanks for uploading this beauty of work.

Amen. I completely agree with you. I am 22 and just saw this movie for the first time last night and I can honestly say that NO movies like this are made anymore. Really heavy, beautiful stuff.
