I have been really bothered by comments I've been seeing on the web lately, about how transguys perceive lesbians as hating them or being backwards, stuck in the 70s, etc. I can understand why transguys think SOME lesbians don't like them, but please don't think that ALL lesbians are hateful!!!! This only does damage to everyone involved. Similarly, I've heard from many lesbians who express very judgmental things about transguys, and they need to step back and see that transguys are not doing them any harm!!! Seriously, just stop letting fear get the better of you and try to let people live their lives without assuming you know them better than they know themselves! I don't mean to rant, I just don't want people to hate ME as soon as they glance at me, because of whatever preconceived notions they may have, when actually I want to be friends with people and just learn about them! Let's give each other a chance!

  • When will people realize that labels will NEVER work? You are many people's DEFINITION of a transgendered individual. The only thing that makes you a lesbian instead of trans is your statement that you are, & others' respect of that. Many who self i.d. as trans would call your childhood experiences (puberty, etc.) CLASSIC trans experiences. Gay folks are coming out as trans daily. Point is, we are SO much more similar than dissimilar. We are spirit in body suits, not the other way around. :)

  • @mysticaltraveler1111 Very interesting. yes, I agree that we all have some similarities, and I do sometimes identify as "transgender," in that I feel my gender is kind of in-between and the traditional gender binary doesn't fit me. It's interesting that we can be very similar, yet also still have some big differences. For example, an FTM could have experiences, thoughts and feelings very similar to mine, yet we feel different about our "ultimate identity" or whatever. And it's all OK!!! :)

  • OMG....i'm a straight transgender girl..but i feel attracted to you..U are so beautiful!! =)

  • @krisagui thanks!! I appreciate it. :)

  • PART 2: a transguy. I sometimes get the feeling that it has more to do with the insecurity of some of the transguys. I think there are some lesbians that don't understand transguys, but there are also gay men, bisexual man and women and heterosexual people that don't understand us. But why single out a minority of lesbians that don't understand it. I'm a heterosexual transguy(love the ladies), but i love and respect all lesbians, and i hope other transguys do the same. • @5vvnm Thanks! I'm glad you don't think all lesbians are hateful. :) I can see what you mean about some transguys' insecurity; maybe they want to really separate themselves from lesbians and end up doing that in kind of an inconsiderate way.

  • @MagicMyc21 I THOUGHT SHE WAS A GUY!!! Seriously I'm a ftm too but he looks like he is litterally a gay boy... (He is so much more manly looking than me...)

  • I am a gay male, and Im attracted to you. gender and sexuality isn't binary, its a spectrum.

  • who thought she was a guy?

  • I'm FTM and my girlfriend is lesbian.

I don't see us as a lesbian and an FTM dating but as two people who want to be together.

I have nothing against lesbians, and I haven't had any lesbian hating on me. Most of my best friends are lesbians. We are a community we need to stick together and focus on something bigger than hate.

  • I sympathise with your view and like to add.

First of all, hate is a big word and a very negative emotion. Can you hate someone even if he/she personally has nothing done to you that gives a reason to hate? I can not.

Sometimes it's misunderstanding. To question or to have a different opinion, has nothing to do with rejection, or worse, with hate.

An example: I don't know a gender identity.

I know common / cultural / political identity. I am not against wars as a woman, but as human being! ☮ ♡ ★

  • This is a very intelligent video. I like the things you're saying. I will say that I've dealt w/ some pretty messed up reactions towards me from lesbians, but I focus on the mostly positive experiences I have w/ dykes. it is tough though sometimes when I here the negative comments generalizing about men that pops out of lesb and fem mouths. Like you I think the generalizaitions are destructive. So thanks for yr widsom & keep fighting the good fight.

  • MTF (in process) who absolutely LOVES her new lesbian friends from the coming out group. They have been SO FABULOUS. No matter who I end up with (F/M), I will always stand proud next to my sisters.

There are those who can't see the hypocrisy of their hatred. Its a pet peeve of mine when oppressed groups turn on other oppressed groups. It happens a lot, not just in the LGBT community. It's a human thing.

Trans, lesbian, gay, straight.. all that matters is if you got love in your heart.

  • Lesbian who DOES NOT hate any tran men or women!!!! Love and support y'all!!!!!! I agree. We all need to be there for each other.

  • Generalizing about groups is always unfair... so I agree with your basic point. But the one thing I might say is that until you actually go through medicalized transition (hormones/top surgery... anything which really impacts how you look or sound) I'm not sure you can say how people will or won't treat you. It's really on a person by person basis and context is everything. Let's just say there are people who you would certainly HOPE would accept you who don't (and vice versa).
