Krizalid (クリザリッド, Kurizariddo) acts as the mid and final boss of The King of Fighters '99. He was designed to be a stylish and earnestly strong boss, though the supervising designer at the time admits, "I think I overdid it a little." A number of Krizalid's unused graphics were made available to the public in the Dreamcast release of the title. He makes another appearance as one of Original Zero's Strikers in The King of Fighters 2001.

Oswald (オズワルド, Ozuwarudo) is one of the three original characters debuting in the video game The King of Fighters XI. There, he belongs to the year's Hero Team along with Ash Crimson and Shen Woo. He was created under the image of being an older gentleman and is an enigma to even the creators. Developers consider his moves to be comical compared to the seriousness of his image, especially the move Joker when it is blocked or misses. They chose to leave the result of his fight with Shen (see below) ambiguous, implying that fans would have been disappointed with the outcome. He was originally intended to be the "good-looking glasses" character for the series.

Jhun Hoon (Hangul: 전훈, Hanja: 全 勲, Japanese: ジョン・フーン Jon Fūn) is a recurring member of the Korean team after his debut in The King of Fighters '99. He is the friendly rival of Kim Kaphwan. He was originally conceptualized to be "a veteran friendly character" with a Kim inspired moveset. He is modeled after Kim Hoon from Fight Fever and shares some moves from the game's last boss, Karate Kenji.

Kaphwan Kim, usually written surname first as Kim Kaphwan (Hangul: 김갑환, Hanja: 金甲喚, Katakana: キム・カッファン), is a character in both the Fatal Fury and King of Fighters series by SNK. Kim is a master of Taekwondo and considers himself a fighter of justice. Kim's original teammates, Chang Koehan and Choi Bounge, were to be teamed up with another dangerous criminal character to form the "Fugitive Team" but Kim was added to the team instead. His official nickname is The Crown Jewel of Taekwondo.
