  • In that awkward teenage period before cable TV, when I was old enough to stay up late and watch "SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE," but not to go out and party, Bob was the hippest thing out there. I never managed to stay awake through an entire two-movie set of his, but I always looked forward to catching as much of his camera time as I could. We don't have shows like his anymore. I miss it terribly.

  • Holy crap, I thought I'd NEVER again see any clips of Bob Shreve! What great memories of growing up in the tri-state area and staying up to watch Bob's whole show. He was hilarious!!! Such fond memories.....

  • OMG....I grew up watching this show. Couldn't wait until Saturday night so I could stay up and watch it. I loved it!

  • remember spidel the spider who would drop out of the ceiling . Schreve would shriek "H SPIDEL SPIDEL" and hit it with someting.

  • Man, he showed the WORST OF THE WORST movies! I never missed it. "As chairwoman of the welcoming committee, I welcome you with open arms."

  • wow-- i did the same thing. i think i went through about a six week period of sending bob letters each week just to have him read them on the air (which i would tape on my tape recorder for my mom and dad to hear later). loved it.

  • I wish this show was still on. I loved catching it after Saturday Night Live. I truly miss a talent like Bob Shreve. There is nothing on television late Saturday or early Sunday now that can match it. Watching this intro brings back so many memories. I used to call in to get my name read on air and then audio tape it so the rest of my family could hear it in the morning.

  • At that time I was in my early teens and thought of Bob Shreve's Past Prime Playhouse on a par with Saturday Night Live. My friends and I would raid the fridge for snackage while the movies were on so that we wouldn't miss a second of Bob - he was the show.

Thank you so much for posting this, you brought back so many wonderful memories.
