Note to sygo7g:

As well as I know...when this vignette *does* get screened at cartoon conventions, Either U.S. or overseas, you *can* see this in it's Full Wide-Screen CINEMASCOPE Glory! *Definitely* if ya make it to *any* convention in Europe.

Originally released in CinemaScope (this is a "cropped" TV print from the mid-'60s) in August 1957. For some reason, Ernest Pintoff was unable to finish this; Gene Deitch completed it, and originally got sole screen credit as director.

You make me wish I saw this in CinemaScope now! Really, I can only pray for that day to come!

There's been a few books on this. Gene's own autobiography "For The Love of Prague" or the online "How To Succeed in Animation".

In the real world brats like that would never be introspective & think "why am i hurting another human being maybe there's something wrong with me". He'd have to be sent to psych by court order to avoid jail or flebus would have to realise u just cant please everyone even when you play their game. So just hang round people that do support u. Of course it's hard if you're stuck with these brats at school, work, happens to be your boss, parent or political leader. Hopefully God is easy to please.

Oh, and Ernie wrote the score to this, although I don't think the union rules allowed for him to take credit. It's a widescreen cartoon I believe -- this is cropped for a 4 x 3 aspect ratio.

Ernie was a firend of mine -- an eclectic and gifted man, more attuned to UPA's design aesthetic during this period than he was to Terrytoons. He was a jazzman also -- he blew with Dexter Gordon at one point -- and wrote several books including a coming-of-age novel ZACHARY that is a small classic. He won a 'toon Oscar for THE CRITIC and then turned into a live action director -- DYNAMITE CHICKEN with Richard Pryor (and John Lennon!) might be his most known work. A true and generous artist.

All the Terrytoons are owned by CBS and their are no plans to reissue any of them.
