  • I understand it. I am black. My comment wasn't directed at you in particular, but to everyone who's making such a big deal out of it. It's stupid for people to whine so much about Disney making a black princess. I'm disappointed that she isn't given the recognition that the others have, but at the same time I can see why as well (I can see why she was turned into an animal for the sake of the movie and where it is set...not why the black princess had to be the one to get turned into an animal.

  • You had intelligent observations, but I think you are missing a major portion in your observation. To understand ppls problems with the film you have to understand the historical and psychological racism/White supremacy that has been in the film industry. Specificaly toward ppl of African descent. And Black people haven't ben acceptably called 'Colored' since Jim Crow. Maybe u need to talk to some ppl about the history of racial exclusion and stereotypes.

  • I can understand ur comment. I just feel that this is a big deal to all the litl Black girls who NEVER seen a Princess that looked like them. I was happy Disney FINALLY included Black people. I am dissapointed because this Black Princess is not given the spotlight of Pocahontas, Belle, or Jasmine. They weren't turned n2 animals, hiding their skin color and racial features.

  • The TRUE controvery is WHY are we having a controversy?!?!?!

  • I'm with ya. Big deal...it's a black princess. No one complained about Jasmin or Pocahontas (Belle is French btw). And voodoo is huge in New Orleans where the movie is set. Sure it's a bit stereotypical, but Disney has always played into stereotypes. If you've got a problem with it...don't see the movie. It's that simple.

It is the start of a 2D comeback. Repunzel comes out next year.

  • I agree with the 2D part, but what about Toy Story?

As for the racial stereotyping, it's just a bunch of politically correct bullshit.

All in all, I'd say that we'll have to see about this Disney getting back on its feet business, but I like looks of it.
