Its up to you really. The second gears had some major plot points in terms of the storyline, but realistically the third game should catch you up on where the story currently is. Its a fun single player campaign so I would recommend renting it and playing through, but it might be kind of a waste to buy since the multiplayer isn't very great in my opinion.

i will never understand y u ppl like microsoft but sony is a much better company.

some 1 tell y u think xbox is better then n e think sony made.

they have very little of there own system franchises for xbox and almost every game on xbox is on ps3. microsoft isnt proving much at all

you have it backwards, most of the titles that ps3 fanboys a couple years ago would have thought to be ps3 exclusives in the future are now being ported to the xbox 360 and released at the same time because developers know that they can make much more profit with microsoft's system.

just look at gta4, final fantasy 13, and resident evil 5. a couple years ago you would only play those franchises with a playtation, now you can get the next gen versions on the 360.

does ps3 have halo 3, gears 2, fallout? no its because the developers know that they can only go with the 360 and make a great profit. sure the ps3 has exclusives like littlebigplanet, but from where sony was a couple years ago with the ps2, they have fallen a long way in the console market.

Chambers man, get the game. They just brought out the newest patch for the game which reduces the lag greatly, and now there is no bullet lag whatsoever.
