  • Good basic video. I like the step-by-step, and the man's voice is easy to listen to. Thank you for the video.

  • The thermostat may work when the power goes off, but the furnace itself would need electricity to operate its fans, even if it's a gas furnace. (The gas combustion provides heat, but electricity is needed to operate the fans to blow the heat throughout your home.) In my own case, I have a gas furnace, but have a small propane heater (one of the ones rated safe for indoor use) to use during power outages.

  • @Dablkwid0w2008 I turned mine down too far, and it snapped right off. I found that by taking the cover off, I can manually turn the dial...but I have no idea what the temperature setting is. Time to switch it per this video. I had the old mechanical dial, and it would be nice to have a programmable one that turns on while I am still comfy cozy under the covers about 10 minutes before getting up for my shower.

  • Nice video, I happen to have a similar old model. BUT try to find a thermostat made in USA. I didn't at either HD or Lowes. And some had energy star logo & some didn't despite being same models.

  • I knocked my thermostat off the wall by mistake :(

  • How ever u like to install it as long as u could reach it

  • In the video the thermostat is located 60" above the floor, but I believe it should be 48". Could someone confirm the proper height a thermostat is to be located? I'm from Vancouver BC, Canada and am having a hard time getting an answer. Thanks.

  • Loved it! I can do that myself, and I'm a girl! :D
