Renata Scotto sings Medea

Renata Scotto canta l'aria di Medea dal Primo atto, l'invocazione, l'ultima, di pietà a Giasone. La canta bene devo dire, sarebbe stato interessante un approfondimento del ruolo, così come di tanti altri che non ha cantato, Rossini per esempio avrebbe potuto e voluto anche fare Armida o Semiramide ma anche Guillaume Tell. Una rarità da un concerto presumibilmente americano del 1979 con Lorin maazel sul podio, anche lui in un repertorio estraneo alla sua bacchetta. La Scotto incise però nel 1957 il ruolo di Glauce nell'unica medea in studio di maria Callas, accanto a Mirto Picchi e Miriam Pirazzini con la direzione di Serafin ed i complessi della Scala.

I admit i am not the biggest Renata Scotto's fan ... yes i understand the fact that she is one of the most important sopranos and i also admit that i had some beautiful moments listening to Renata in many roles even her Lucia , i admire her voice and her lyrical strength but also had the worst experience listening to her Traviata ... For this live and mostly difficult part of Medea as far as the breathing and long held notes she is in one word BRILLIANT. Ok yes she is not Maria but noone will be

this is Renata Scotto, it hard not to recognize her style of hanging on to notes too long. I much prefer Callas... She actually understood the style and the character. Lots of motion too.. in the sound..

@Divina126 i think that this is renata's voice, because Maria's voice in medea is very different...and Renata is a great singer and she can sing this aria in this beautiful version...sorry for my bad english :D
