NO FUCKING WAY BtS is lyrically superior to Modest Mouse. As great as some of these songs can be in that department. Musical quality? Different story. But in a way, the simple, empty, elementary nature of the older Mouse songs is what made them beautiful, especially as complementary to the lyrical content.

Both great bands, but Issac Brock deserves a ton of credit for his lyrical style, especially circa Lonesome Crowded West - The Moon and Antarctica.

I love how the comments consist of people arguing whether one amazing bands is more awesome than another amazing band. MM and BtS are both FUCKING AMAZING. I personally like Mouse more, mostly because I've been listening to them much longer, but that's just me. It's like arguing whether Tommy Boy is awesome or super awesomer. Either way, you're right.

modest mouse fans check out caustic resin. they have members who played with built to spill and Isaac has said their album fly me to the moon is one of his favorite. you can definitely here its influence on lonesome, long drive, and moon and antartica
