  • how does the back wheel hold in place?

  • @Slava001 When it's folded, it's locked in place. When it's unfolded, it swings free. Some people get an optional clip attachment that allows the rear wheel to lock into place when unfolded.

  • @e3kim how do you call this "clip attachment" you mentioned? I can't seem to find it anywhere I looked. :(

  • @splashx Just google "Brompton rear frame clip". There are plenty of suppliers.

  • @e3kim oh, it seems I got it all wrong. Yeah, I do have this clip on my bike.

I'm in need of a clip/system that will keep the rear wheel locked while folded when I have the seat up (sometimes when you're pulling the bike with the seat up the whole thing unfolds when you bump into a hole or try to climb to cca 3cm high surfaces.)

  • @Frchy "Big" is the real name for that. Such a bulk.

  • dude that bike is cool

  • folding bike? beat STRIDA if you can! it folds very fast and neat!

  • just checked and was reminded again which one the strida was. tried it too. a strida is great - for people who are not tall and for cycling a bit in the city. But for longer turns and taller people a strider would not work very well, UNFORTUNATELY.

Again for those of you who care: Brompton has three saddle shafts for different hights. I am using a lengthened shaft but which is still part of the original bike. am about 1,90m. only thing I miss with a brompton is a back pedal break.

  • @natitomit I don't know about the strida. Nevertheless this guy here is doing it real slow (maybe it is more of showing how it works than to win a speed contest). After only a few tries I could fold my Brompton in just under 10 seconds.

@ those of you who care about fast-folding a Brompton: the trick is to first unscrew and then fold back- and forewheel simultaneously. The stirring wheel falls into place automatically then and you only need to push down the saddle then.

  • i would have finished unfolding a strida 5.2 even before you lift the seat.
