The song Mull of Kintyre was filmed at Saddell Bay in Kintyre, the real Mull of Kintyre is about 20 miles to the south-west.
At the end of the public road it's a steep drop down a hair-pin road past the 1994 Chinook Helicopter Memorial to the lighthouse. To the south of the lighthouse there's a path to the foghorn building which passes a ruined first world war signalling station. Ireland which is about 12 miles away can be seen. 14 May 2008.

  • My ancestor emigrated in 1675 to the Royal Colony of Maryland. It must have been traumatic for him to leave such a beautiful place.

  • Thanks for posting these scenes. I lived near there for a short time, and I used to spend my days off work walking up to the Mull of Kintyre and back. I'll never forget one late May day, it was a calm, clear and warm day and I fell asleep amongst the heather and wild flowers. Waking up and looking out to see and being unable to see where the sky stopped and the water started was a magical moment.

  • The guy who disliked this must have been a big fan of Wings and found this instead of the song

  • What a wondrous place and the song is very good also...!!!
