MGB Exhaust system

Here is a video of my 1974 MGB, it has a 12inch long glasspack 2inch pipeing and a stainless steel header. I think it sounds good.

@lschlachter1 Oh ya it's a 1974 MGB, although because it has a rubber bumper some refer to it as a 74.5. Either way its still a 1974.

That's not how an MGB is supposed to sound. Glass packs don't go on British sports cars. It sounds like shit.

Well I suppose everybody is entitled to their opinion. you can make your british sports car sound however you want, but mine will always sound like this.

I got the whole header back exhaust done with muffler for about $120 at this shop

@creedyguldunjka That was uncalled for and uncool. Everyone has a right to do what they want to their cars. I own 60's muscle cars, MG's and others and one group I've always liked was the old British car group because they seem more tolerant and supportive of each other. It would sure be boring if we all painted our cars only the color that you like, had only the exhaust that you approve. I admit that I'm not a fan of the exhaust setup but I'll stand by the man's right to do it his way.

@lschlachter1 You need to learn your MGB's better before you make such declarations. Mid year of '74 they went to rubber among other changes made in '74.

is it a 74 or 75 it looks more like a 75 MGB but i couldnt get a great look at it i have a 75 MGB and it looks similar anyway nice car though mate, and to all the people that say that british cars arent supposed to sound like that, go back in British auto history and see that the MG played a big role in rally racing and track racing its a sporty little car with bullocks and i think it gets to sound how IT WANTS TO!

you need to recheck the carb ignition

British cars came from the factory with great sounding exhaust. This is why British car buffs will give you some flack about a custom glass pack. Still it is your car and you can do what you want to it. Took a whole year to find a good exhaust note (picky) ended up going with a early stock system on my 78 MGB.

sounds awful, get yourself a BIG-BORE, SINGLE-BOX system (not s/s), & keep the stock headers...
