Humility Now is a non-profit movement based on the idea that true humility counts others more significant than yourself. Through events, campaigns and advocacy, we hope to extend the opportunity to not only serve the hurting in our communities, but also acknowledge their humanity through tangible, face-to-face relationships.

It is estimated that every single night in the United States there are at least 700,000 people living on the streets, homeless. Seven hundred thousand people. When you walk the streets of Downtown Miami, or any metropolitan city for that matter, it is almost impossible to miss the homeless sprawled on the sidewalks, living under bridges, begging for cash. We see them every day: hungry, hurting, thirsty, dirty, and worst of all, ignored.

Whether it's fear, ignorance, or a lack of compassion, most of us will walk past the poor with no remorse, going about our business. When most people think of the homeless, the same thought comes to mind: laziness. Most watching this can probably even say that they've referred to passing beggars as "bums." The sad part is, most people living on the margins of society will tell you, more than anything they would like an opportunity to make something of themselves. A helping hand to guide them, believe in them, and give them a second chance.

We say all this to lay out an invitation. To put everything you think you know about the beggars, homeless, and panhandlers aside, and get to know them. Hear their stories, and tell a few of your own. No one can single-handedly solve the poverty of homelessness, but what we can do is bring hope through one on one relationships. Be a light in one of the most desperate of situations, and stand beside the hurting, like a real family would. The only thing that separates you is their lack of four walls.

Humility Now is a non-profit movement based on the idea that true humility counts others more significant than themselves. Through events, campaigns and advocacy, we exist to extend the opportunity to not only serve the hurting in our communities, but also acknowledge their humanity. Get to know the starving, thirsty, and homeless. All too often we hear of tragedies in far off continents, disease, malnutrition, and slavery, but forget hurting in our own backyard.

If this is you, take the leap. Shake hands with the next person you see asking for change. Sign up for one of our service events. Buy a t-shirt. For every shirt we sell, we give one to our homeless friends. And if you're ready to take an even bigger step, partner with us to host your own creative event to serve the hurting in your community, wherever you are.

True humility counts others more significant than themselves. It's hearing the cry of the oppressed and breaking the cycle of poverty. Join us.
