Dr. Lawrence Casalino, MD, PhD, Chief of Division of Outcomes & Effectiveness Research at Weill Cornell Medical College, discusses how the Accountable Care organization relates to the concept of a patient-centered medical home.

ACOs are being created across the nation in response to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, or healthcare reform act, which was passed into law this year.

Mission Health System welcomed Dr. Casalino, M.D., Ph.D., to Asheville's Crowne Plaza Exposition Center on November 12 to share his research on accountable care organizations (ACOs), which are expected to be a cornerstone of healthcare reform.
