This is a cover of Oxygen IV, originally composed and recorded by Jean Michel Jarre.
Unlike the original there are no sequencers (I wouldn't know how to use them if I had them) I haven't used any loops either.
Instruments used are a Tokai jazz fretless bass for the bass line, Kodaira classical guitar for one of the rythm tracks, Sure SM58 microphone to imitate the white noise used in the intro and throughout the track and everything else was done on a Yamaha PSR E403 keyboard. the track was recorded with Cubase LE.
As a cover it is not identical to the original, though as close as my playing ability and ear allowed. In working out how the tune went (which was done by ear) and recording it, I have discovered that what is essentially a basic pop tune is made so powerfull by a range of complex subtleties, which has given me a much greater respect than I already had for Jean Michel Jarre. He is not only a very good composer, but must be an exceptional musician to come up with the subtleties that he does, as to me as a bass player, many of them are counter intuitive.
This is the second version I have uploaded to youtube. Unfortunately I am having problems with loss of top end frequencies experienced during uploading. loss of aproximately 24db from 5khz up. So I remixed this to try and compensate, but am doing it by guess work, as I don't know how it will sound until I listen to it on youtube. This version does sound better than the first one I put up but still doesn't sound the same as my original mix, so I will have another go at remixing at a latter date.
WALLY! This sounds like Dr.OTTAVIO! Its the same riff thoughout the whole song. Im going back to making crappy movies know....BYE!

Who is Dr.OTTAVIO? Is he trying to plagiarize Jean-Michel Jarre too?
