I forgot to mention this:
Gnome is more similar to mac, while KDE is more similar to Windows. They both work fine and I think a windows user can use Gnome perfectly fine.

No...Windows is a fork(full copy) of KDE!!

I detest opensuse, too slow. Ditto with Solaris.

Like runfromnuke said, with modern computers it really just comes down to personal preference. I have a screaming fast desktop, loaded to the gills with RAM, and I still prefer GNOME.

Hmmm... that's weird. It was whichever one was new when I posted that message. I haven't a clue why I wrote 11.4.
I've long since dumped both SuSE and PC-BSD. Now, it's just XP and the Jaunty Jackalope running on Vist-64 Ultimate SP2

You sure it's 11.4? They only just finished 11.2 Milestone 2 so sure ly you mean 11.1?

what size was the virtual disk you created?

I started using 8GB for this demo, it should be enough for my purpose. Linux desktop maximum took around 3GB with fresh installation without data.
