01.27.12 (ANTHONY, N.M.) -- Music continues to inspire many people around the world and now members of a local band hope to use their talent to lift the spirits of those struggling to make ends meet.

Walking up to the stage, preparing to perform is a moment Roger Murillo has thought about his whole life.

"When I was small, I never had a chance to play and sing but these guys that are here the ones that are giving me that inspiration," he said.

Murillo is a member of Encanto, a group recently formed in southern New Mexico.

Inside the VFW in the community of Anthony is where they spend a lot of time rehearsing, giving its members a small glimpse of their act.

"I just want to thank God for giving me this opportunity which I thought was going to be impossible to do, but if you work hard for what you want that dream is going to come true," he said.

Members of the band say their working hard to bring enjoyment into the lives of those impacted by today's economy.

"We all enjoy music. It's a big part of our lives," said band member, Daniel Lopez.

The musicians say they play anything from rock to country to traditional spanish music. Band members say they're having fun, but also giving back to the community.

"There's a lot of people that love our music and I've heard people tell us, you know a particular song that makes them feel better, different people have their different songs that they like and they always ask us to play or they have their favorite," said Lopez.

Since there is no money, the band relies heavily on social networking sites and word of mouth to get their name out there.

"I would say El Paso has a certain style of music. Las Cruces has a certain style of music but in between we kind of mix it all together to give everyone a little bit of happiness," said Lopez.
