@jimluckett BTW, I do love your kits, and will probably order one for the enjoyment and relaxation of sailing. After looking at what is available on the market, your kits are even more appealing. I mean do people actually use a 5' eye ball sail in their face to get around at 3 mph? I guess so. Those things look more like a drift sock. You have a great product, and I believe it is faster than most people typically paddle their canoes. Im not going to track one down to race it, so Ill shut up

@jimluckett The best paddlers can average 6 mph for 90 miles in a solo canoe in all kinds of conditions. 7 mph is do-able for up to about 5 miles, and 100 meter sprints to around 15 mph. All solo, of course tandems are a bit faster. So depends on whos paddling what I think. I can avg. over 7 mph across a lake with pretty standard gear and Im not a exceptional paddler, I think 6-7 mph is a pretty average top speed for a decent paddler in a quality canoe. I still want a kit though.

@THRUTHESMOKENMIRRORS Really? I have never seen a canoe go that fast by paddle power for any sustained period. That's cool. I'd like to see that.

@tomterahedrob 6 mph is a quick paddling speed for a efficient canoe. A experienced paddler might hold this for a hour before tiring. 8 mph is not a unrealistic speed for a sprint in a efficient canoe. So to say 6 mph is way faster than paddling might be true of a leisure float with your wife or kids, but a serious paddler in a decently efficient canoe should be able to hold 5-6 mph for some time. If it goes 6 mph in ideal conditions, I could smoke it with a paddle across a lake any day.
