  • A police pulled you over and you failed to provide a Driver License. Most Hispanic in that situation would be arrested or given a ticket for failing to produce documentation. What if you were thrown in jail or were arrested for not being able to provide documentation even when your name matches your car registration and insurance, you wouldn't be so happy.

  • @esancl First off, you need to provide the data that says most get thrown in jail. Secondly, had i been taken to jail it would've been for absolutely a good reason, I AM SUPPOSED TO CARRY MY LINCENSE. (btw, thats to emphasis, not yell, i want a bold on these sites.)

  • While AZ revised SB1070 with the amended text "prosecutors would not investigate complaints based on race, color or national origin."[27] The new text also states that police may only investigate immigration status incident to a "lawful stop, detention, or arrest".

At few days of passing the law there has been cases of US citizens being arrested and sent to ICE b/c they lacked enough proof of citizenship (even while providing birth certificate)

  • @esancl The law didn't go into effect then. Simply because you pass the law, doesn't simply mean it goes into effect. Which is another great reason we should love this nation, we allow for the challenge of laws passed. A Judge struck down only the parts that were repeated by federal law.

  • I think the argument of Mexicans were here first refers to that when the US purchased Arizona there were Mexicans there. These Mexicans became US citizens and so their children and future generations. So, for Arizona to pass a law that harass people that look illegal (Hispanics including Mexicans) is not only unconstitutional but also ironic. While most people carry a state ID, not everyone carry their birth certificate.

  • @esancl That argument would be an awesome argument, except for the fact that people can be illegal from canada, japan, asia in general, and the mid east, europe. If it was just a mexican problem for the immigration problem we would study it.

And it wouldn't be a problem if people actually followed the law.
