Los Angeles, Calif. - Senior Aaron Thompson scored a career-high 22 points and sophomore Jacques Streeter added 11 clutch points Monday night as Cal State Fullerton beat UCLA in men's basketball for the first time in 10 tries, 68-65, in double overtime before a national ESPN TV audience.

The Titans improved to 2-0 and spoiled UCLA's season opener.

Streeter scored 7 of his points in the final 10:09 of the game. His free throw with 9 seconds left in regulation tied the game at 57. He hit two free throws in the first overtime for a 60-57 lead. His 3-pointer gave the Titans a 65-60 lead with 2:17 to go in the second overtime and his free throw with 12 seconds left was the final point of the game.

UCLA shot only 31 percent from the floor and made only 5 of 29 3-point field goal tries as the Titans played a zone defense much of the game and exclusively down the stretch. UCLA also was only 8 of 17 at the foul line. Malcolm Lee and Michael Roll led the way with 17 points each.

Gerard Anderson added 14 points for the Titans and Bryce Webster matched Nikola Dragovic for rebounding honors with 14.

"I feel pretty good right now -- I'm a little numb," said CSF Head Coach Bob Burton. "It's a tremendous win for our program, especially to beat them at any time. I understand that they are trying to get it together over there, but it is still a good win.

"It's a great time for us. I'm kind of like Ben (Coach Howland), we need to work and improve on a lot of things. We were very fortunate to win this game.

"We just know how far we have to go offensively and defensively. This was a typical first game, except for the fact that it was at Pauley Pavilion and it was on national TV.

"Jacques played well, Gerard Anderson also gave us a lift but I would have to say Aaron Thompson was the player of the game."

Fullerton's biggest lead of the game was 10 points, the last time at 43-33 with 15:17 to play in regulation. But UCLA took advantage of cold Fullerton shooting for a 9-0 run to get within a point. Roll's 3-pointer at 8:09 was the first of the game for UCLA and gave it a 47-45 lead.

Fullerton regained the lead at 50-47 on a 3-pointer by Thompson and went back ahead at 52-50 on a driving dunk shot by Anderson at 4:02. But UCLA went back ahead 55-52 and held the lead until Streeter hit the first of two tries with 9 seconds left. He missed the second try and the Bruins missed a shot at the buzzer.

Overtime was played at a deliberate pace by two tired teams. One free throw by Anderson and two by Streeter were equalized by Roll's 3-pointer with 2 minutes to go in the first OT and neither team scored again.

In the next period, Thompson hit a baseline jumper and Streeter hit his trey for a 5-point lead. But Dragovic countered with a trey. Jer'Vaughn Johnson hit two free throws for Fullerton with 1:30 to play to make it 67-63. Lee scored with 24 seconds left and the Bruins got the ball back when the Titans got a 5-second call on the inbounds play. But the Bruins couldn't hit and Webster grabbed the final rebound with less than a second remaining.

UCLA's biggest lead of the game was 4 points at 21-17 with 6:19 to go in the firt half. But the Titans finished the period with a 16-6 run for a 33-37 lead at intermission.

Earlier in the year, Cal State Fullerton's women's volleyball team beat UCLA for the first time in 15 years.

Each of Fullerton's five starters played at least 38 minutes. Orane Chin was the only Titan substitute to score, contributing six key points.

Fullerton is idle until a home game against New Mexico State on Nov. 24.
