  • @graspyonox When setting up the MAME, how did you remove the start-up xp interface? Does the MAME you are running only play arcade emulators or can it run nes, snes, genesis, ect. How did you get screen flip to work? Sorry for the Q's, nice cabinet though!

  • @alyx222 Check out my website I have a guide and a video on how I removed all the XP startup stuff. Website link is in the info box under this video.

The Mame i use only plays arcade games but the frontend I use will allow you to setup and use just about any emulator allowing you to have a Mame emu, nes, genesis, etc.

To setup the screen flipping you access the game settings in mame.

  • I also agree with your $ statement too. I've been pricing everything out and I know you've got at least $100 in the glass, buttons and joysticks, let alone the j-pac controller module. I'm running two MC Cthulhu units in my 2p stick, but those are for multi-console apps. Also, how do you shut it off? Just auto shutoff w/ power button?

  • @DaveBonds Yea all I did was replace the original PC power button with a arcade button. XP by default will shut down the PC if you hit the power button. Thats all I really needed, nice and simple. Inside the cab I have a power strip, if I want to completly cut off all power to the arcade machine I just use the off switch on the strip.

  • Just out of curiousity, what are the specs on your CPU?

I'm building a 2p joystick to run some MAME fighters on my Television, as well as playing my consoles, but I have wanted a cocktail since I was about four years old.

The 3 button was a wise choice. I like the coin setup. I'm thinking about actually putting a coin slot in mine. It sort of changes how serious I am about playing, esp. Ms.Pacman (fast). Kickass setup! I like the chairs too.

  • How did you configer that pushbutton to your pc start button?

Btw: you inspired me, was it hard to make that cab.?

    grtz

    G.

  • @graspyonox one thing to also keep in mind, im sure mala has a option, when you exit out of the frontend it will automaticly shut the pc down. you might want to check that out

  • Seems pretty easy. I was going to set up a cabinet to run fighting games, but I sort of gave up on it. I don't have enough RAM on the CPU that I'm using. I'm using a GP2X handheld with cradle/ breakout board to save room, because I need the space inside for storage. As lame as that is, my house is small and it will be replacing a piece of furnature.

  • There is a setting that lets you set them as cocktail games. For the most part it works great. The play field isn't as large as I would like it on some of the horizontal games but there were a few horizontal games that I just had to have.
